Coconut bacon
Last update: September 20, 2018Thin strips of vegan bacon perfect for a BLT. Also works well as a garnish for splitpea soup.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1/4 cup tamari
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1.5 cups dried coconut flakes
Preparation
- Start preheating the over to 175 C
- Put the coconut oil and boiling water in a mixing bowl
- Let the coconut oil melt
- Mix in the other marinade ingredients
- Add the coconut flakes
- Pour in an oven dish and spread evenly
- Bake at 175 C for 15 minutes
- Stir
- Bake at 150 C for 5 minutes
- Stir
- Bake at 150 C for 5 minutes
- Remove from oven, stir and let cool down
- Move to a sealable container and keep in the fridge
